Metin is originally from Turkey, was born in the Aegean region, and raised in Istanbul. He received his BS in Chemistry and MS in Chemical Engineering in Turkey. Then, he moved to the Grand Canyon and “dry heat” state of Arizona to do his PhD at the University of Arizona. He missed humidity and green and decided to move to Durham, North Carolina for his Postdoc at Duke University. Finally, he moved from “First in Flight” NC to “Birthplace of Aviation” OH. So, when it comes to research, he knows the sky is the limit! He is a polymer chemist and is interested in materials development for biomedical and energy applications. Outside of the lab/work, he enjoys playing and watching soccer (football) and basketball.
